The weather for the day of this shoot was supposed to be in the 60's, but when we arrived on location temperatures felt no where near that. The setting sun cast a beautiful warm light, but the wind added a chill that sent tears down my cheeks, hair flying, noses running, and a made a very unhappy, COLD baby boy. Despite the unfortunate weather, we still managed to get some nice shots. Thanks Rachel and David for putting on your happy faces and allowing me to photograph your beautiful family.

Just as we were packing up I noticed this beautiful sunset that just screamed for a silhouette.

It's been really sweet getting to know Keith and Caren and their two kids. They are a very loving couple who have no problem showing it. I loved watching Keith look at Caren as if he had just fallen head over heels in love with her. Even after years of marriage his affection for her was evident in his eyes. I loved also that they weren't afraid to laugh and be silly; it made for a fun shoot. And of course, it's not to hard to get great pictures with such great subjects.

DeVries Family Reunion

I recently traveled to Sedalia to photograph this large family reunion; 53 people total. They were a super fun, relaxed bunch and made for a very enjoyable shoot.

Ed and Betty have been married 61 years. What an accomplishment! After all these years their love is still visible with every enduring look and warm embrace.

They've been blessed with 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Here's to the host couple who graciously opened their home for the event.

This sweet baby girl is the second child of some very dear friends of ours. She surprised everyone by arriving a month early yet didn't need to be in the NICU at all; PTL! She was 4 lbs, 11 oz at birth and 17.5 inches long. Such a precious little bundle. She is photographed here at 3 weeks old.

Geraldine turns 90!

Proverbs 31:28 "Her children arise and call her blessed."

That's exactly what happened at Geraldine's 90th birthday celebration. Not only all her children, but also all of her grandchildren gathered to celebrate her wonderfully blessed life along with other friends and family. It was a joyous occasion, and she was dressed to impress. This beautiful woman is one I have looked up to all my life. I cherish her deeply and am proud to call her my Grandmother.

Maya's turning 1

Maya's mother wanted to have her photographed in a garden for her 1-year photos. Unfortunately, due to this crazy spring weather, there were no gardens in bloom yet. So we went to the next best thing... a greenhouse. Phelan Gardens was kind enough to allow us to do the photo shoot on their property.

Since an almost-1-year old can't be expected to be happy for the whole shoot, we took a little break for a snack. And big brother joined in.

Maya's mother had a fantastic idea to bring cupcakes for Maya to dig into at the end of the shoot. It made for some adorable photos.

Thorne Family Fun

The Thornes go hiking at Ute Valley Park often and wanted to take pictures by a particular rock formation that they had seen before and thought it was about a 5 min. hike into the park. However, it was a bit further than they had remembered. We trekked along carrying gear and props for quite some time until we finally found the location. On our way back, our fearless leader, Sean, took a wrong turn and got us a little off course. It took us a while to find our way back to the park entrance, but we enjoyed the beautiful area and I decided I'll have to return for more hiking. Thanks Sean and Amy for a fun-filled time.

Brittany and Chase are a beautiful couple whose great looks have been passed generously to their 3 adorable children.

These kids were so well-behaved. There was no fussing or throwing tantrums, even when they began to tire. They were polite, obedient, and very patient. They were a great testimony of their parents' hard work at raising well-mannered children who will one day become well-mannered adults; a rarity in our culture these days. We spent a lovely morning at Fox Run Park and ended up with some nice shots to show for it.

The fabulous women of Charis Christian Center put together a special day for the young ladies in their church. The focus was to show these girls that they are beautiful the way God made them. They took them shopping, gave them manicures, loaned them Premier Designs Jewlery, and taught them how to care for their skin and do their make-up using Mary Kay products. I had the privilege of joining this group to photograph the girls. Each one of them truly is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks ladies, for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Besides being gorgeous, Lydia is an extremely talented young woman. I did these shots for her CD cover. She's one of those people who can pick up an instrument and teach herself to play in a short period of time. She's especially talented on the piano and writes her own music. A Man of Honor

Many would consider it inappropriate to photograph a funeral. That's exactly what I thought when my mom handed me her camera and asked me to take some photos during the burial of my grandfather. I did so cautiously, not knowing if the rest of the family would be offended. However, after the funeral many family members came to me and asked for copies of the images. I was surprised to find that these photos were important to so many of them. Memories are not always joyful ones, but that doesn't mean we want to forget them.

My grandfather was a faithful man who led his family with honor and dignity. He left a legacy of love and faith in Jesus Christ. He taught us well, and in the days preceding his death he was surrounded by his loved ones. We held his hand and told him what a wonderful father and grandfather he was. We honored him in his last days, and we honored him at his funeral. We are saddened by his passing, yet we rejoice that he is now with Jesus and we can see him again if we choose to follow Jesus as well.

I can only hope my legacy will be as strong as my grandfather's when it's time for me to leave this life.

A gun salute was given to honor the World War II veteran.

The burial flag was given to the widow to honor the memory of her husband's military service to his country.

I met the man of my dreams in 2002, and we were married a year later. We spent our first year together in Nebraska and then moved to Asia for short-term missions work. God worked greatly in our lives during that short period of time and then called us home to the states. In 2006 we were pregnant with our first child and moved to Colorado for my husband's schooling. We love Colorado and hope to stay for many more years.
